Podcast Summary
There are 2 types of mics in the studio:
Condenser Mic - The mic is very affordable, it has good sound quality. But it has it's downsides, its very sensitive to sounds which means that it not only detects the audio from the speaker but the surroundings also which isn't the ideal sound for a podcast. It's usually used for recording instruments and vocals.
Dynamic Mic - This mic is expensive, as it's expensive it has good quality also. Dynamic mic is the opposite of condense mic. It is not sensitive to sounds which only captures the speakers voice, it records by speaking directly to the front of the mic. Even though its expensive there's a cheaper alternative like the ones commonly used for singing.
Audio Interface - This device takes both analog and digital signals like those that come from guitars, microphones, MIDI keyboards, etc. This device converts them into a format that the computer can recognize and then back to analog. To connect to the audio interface is needs an XLR cable to connect from a hardware device like microphone, guitars, etc.
Sound mixer - This device has some similarities with the audio interface. This device mix, balance, and combine different sound signals. This device has more XLR ports than a audio interface which is designed to hold more than 2 microphones or audio inputs.
