Levi strauss - Binary Opposites Theory
Binary opposite theory created by Levi Strauss can be found in different media forms such as books and films. Binary opposite occurs when there are two opposite sides that are against each other to drive the narrative forward. These are the most common occurring binary opposites:
- Good vs evil
- Creation vs Destruction
- Strong vs weak
- Merciful vs merciless
Backstory
What is Dragon Ball? If you've never heard or seen Dragon Ball you definitely did not have a good childhood but even so I'll tell you anyways. There was once a warrior race who called themselves Saiyan's live to fight on the planet named planet Vegeta. Then it was destroyed by a galactic emperor call Frieza he was feared throughout the galaxy. Dragon Ball is a tale of a young saiyan warrior by the name of Son Goku or Kakarot his saiyan name who was sent to be raised on earth away from the destruction of his home planet, he lived in the mountains called mount Paozu, he's a young peculiar boy with a tail who meets a girl named Bulma, they embarks on a journey to find the 7 mythical wishing orbs, these magical wishing orb can grant wishes when gathered all 7 of them, it could grant any wish. If these orbs were to fall in the wrong hands it could spill disaster upon the world. Then after hunting down all the 7 wishing orbs Goku began to set foot on a journey by himself to become stronger. And so after going on many adventures and struggles Goku found out that he was an alien that came from outer space, but even knowing that still didn't change as he becomes stronger more powerful foes comes his way. This story began from embarking on a silly adventure to find the 7 wishing Dragon orbs to saving the world and even the universe. And this movie is no different from the others aside from the universe ending part.

In this movie, there are a lot of binary opposite that can be show driving the narrative forward.
Good vs Evil: The main plot is that Goku has to stop another threat that could destroy his planet from Beerus The God Of Destruction. Goku is represented as the hero from his personality, colorful clothing, strength, the Saiyan who defeated Frieza, golden aura while Beerus is portrayed resembling the egyptian gods which stood for chaos, destruction, evil, anger, and a purple aura which obviously makes him the antagonist.
Mortal vs God: Goku has to fight a deity that could destroy a planet by just lifting a finger. And on that planet is where his family and friend live. The only way to stop this deity is by acquiring a godly power called the "Super Saiyan God" to please the deity from destroying the earth. So a mortal has to acquire a power of a "Super Saiyan God" to fight a God.
